Spring 2020 Classes

"Shakespeare enlivens the mind and deepens the soul."

-Speech of Fire

We are happy to be continuing our series of acting classes for the public this spring!

All courses are taught in English.

Open to adults and teens at least 16 years of age who are able to attend without an accompanying adult.

Appropriate for actors of all experience levels, from beginner to advanced.

Designed both for newcomers to us and those who have attended our classes (or acted in our Seoul Shakespeare Company shows) before. To be more specific:

Movement and Ensemble introduces the same techniques in each session, but with a new group of people to interact with each month, it will never be exactly the same.

Acting Shakespeare's Text is different every session, with new texts and themes.

Rehearsing Shakespearean Monologues and Scenes is different every session--you choose your monologue or scene!

Maximum number of registrants per course is around 12.

("Rehearsing Shakespearean Monologues and Scenes" is capped at 8 participants maximum.)

Any class with fewer than 5 registrants may be canceled.

Location of all courses:

Speech of Fire's regular studio space (the same space we used when we were Seoul Shakespeare Company) near Sungshin Women's University Station (Subway Line 4)

(Directions will be sent to participants.)

How to Register:

Submit a CLASS REGISTRATION FORM ONLINE. (The link will become available when classes have been rescheduled and registration begins.)

We will respond with bank account details, and your spot will be confirmed once we receive your tuition funds.

Registration deadlines: Thursday April 2nd for Session 1, and Thursday May 14 for Session 2 (or whenever a class fills up).

Cancellations:

Students who have registered may withdraw for a refund up until 3 days prior to their first class. (The specific deadlines are Thursday April 2nd for Session 1, and Thursday May 14 for Session 2.) After this there will be no refunds for student cancellations. (If we need to cancel a class, we will of course refund the tuition for that class.)

Tuition: 90,000KRW per 4-week class

Tuition discounts for multiple courses in the same session

Normal price for one 4-week session of 1 course is 90,000KRW

Take 2 different courses in the same session for 160,000KRW (save 20,000KRW)

Take all 3 courses in the same session for 220,000KRW (save 50,000KRW)

Interested in future classes but unavailable now? Let us know:

We are hoping to continue these classes from month to month throughout the year (with some breaks for vacations), with both an ongoing group of actors building new skills each month, and new participants joining in each month. If you are unable to attend at this time, but would like us to offer these classes again in other seasons, please drop us a quick email at speechoffire@gmail.com so we know the interest is there.

“When we choose a goal and invest ourselves in it to the limits of concentration, whatever we do will be enjoyable. And once we have tasted this joy, we will redouble our efforts to taste it again. This is the way the self grows.”
