Meet Peter- orderly during the week, ferocious warrior on the weekend. As he prepares for the weekend’s battle against the notorious Vikings, a long day at work changes his life. Time flickers. Empty hospital wards turn into long-forgotten battlefields and everybody fights for their lives. This is the basis for The Orderly, Michael Downey's poignant, heartfelt solo show.
This comedic and moving play blends the world of the hospital with that of an ancient battlefield. Downey takes on all the parts of the play; ranging from the gorgeous nurse Donna to a semi-nude Viking berserker high on mushrooms and lusting for blood.
The Orderly is inspired by the life of the now deceased Peter Russell, whom writer and performer Michael Downey met when he worked as an orderly at Auckland’s North Shore Hospital. Peter, a small and frail man, was a hospital orderly during the week and fought as a Viking in the weekends as the member of the historical re-enactment group, the Auckland Norse.
The Orderly was the first production of The Rebel Alliance Theatre Company, founded by Michael Downey and Anders Falstie-Jensen in 2006. It went on to tour New Zealand for a number of years and was adapted for radio by Radio New Zealand in 2009. In 2013, Downey revived The Orderly for Probationary Theatre Company, in association with The Rebel Alliance, at the White Box Theatre, Seoul.

Ticket reservations for each show will close the midnight before the show.
Door sales are also available, beginning one hour before the show. (For sold-out performances, a waitlist will be started in the theater lobby one hour prior to the show.)
Those with reservations must arrive at least 10 minutes before the performance to claim their seats.
(Starting 10 minutes before each performance, unclaimed seats will be made available to those present at the theatre without reservations.)
Seating will begin approximately 30 minutes before each performance. There is no assigned seating, so arrive early to choose the best seats!

Directions from Hyehwa Station (혜화역) (Line 4)
STEP 1: Come out of Exit 4 and turn left immediately.
STEP 2: Continue on that pedestrian street (for about 3 minutes) until you get to the main, multi-lane road.
STEP 3: Cross the main, multi-lane road, toward the KT Plaza store.
STEP 4: Continue walking straight, onto the tree-lined side street (between the KT Plaza store on your left and the Daiso on your right). Walk for about 2 minutes until you reach the T World store on the left-hand side of the street. (You'll also see a Pizza School on the right-hand side of the street.)
STEP 5: Turn left at the T World store. You'll be able to see the yellow and blue Studio SK signs from there. Follow the signs to the theater, straight ahead.

STEP 1: From Hyehwa Rotary, take the road between the NY English Studio (on the left) and the Paris Baguette (on the right).
STEP 2: Walk for about 4 minutes, until you pass McDonald's and then Daiso.
STEP 3: Just after the Daiso, continue straight across the crosswalk (toward the KT store), and then turn right at the KT store, onto the tree-lined side street.
STEP 4: Follow that tree-lined street for about 2 minutes until you reach the T World store on the left-hand side of the street. (You'll also see a Pizza School on the right-hand side of the street.)
STEP 5: Turn left at the T World store. You'll be able to see the yellow and blue Studio SK signs from there. Follow the signs to the theater, straight ahead.

School groups are always welcome at our shows, with all in the group (including adults) receiving the student discount on tickets. 주중에는 평범한 병원의 잡역부, 주말에는 맹렬한 전사인 피터를 만나다! 악랄한 바이킹을 상대로 주말의 전쟁을 준비하는 피터, 직장에서의 지루한 하루가 그의 삶을 바꾼다. 빠르게 지나가는 시간. 텅빈 병원의 병동은 아주 오랫동안 잊혀진 전쟁터! 모든 이가 그들의 삶을 위해 싸운다. '잡역부'는 마이클 다우니의 진심 어린 솔로공연이다.
이 코믹하고 감동을 주는 연극은 고대의 전쟁터와 병원의 삶을 조합하였다. 다우니는 이 공연의 모든 역할-아름다운 간호사인 도나와 피에 굶주린 환각에 빠진 반라의 용맹한 바이킹-을 혼자 연기한다.
'잡역부'는 집필 및 연기자인 마이클 다우니가 오클랜드의 노스 쇼어 병원에서 잡역부로 일했던 피터 러셀(고인)의 삶에서 영감을 받았다. 피터 러셀은 오클랜드 노스에서 역사 재연 그룹의 맴버로서 주중에는 병원의 잡역부로 주말에는 바이킹으로 싸우는 작고 노쇠한 사람이었다.
'잡역부'는 마이클 다우니와 엔더스 펄스티 젠슨이 2006년에 설립한 레벨 얼라이언스 공연 컴퍼니에서 첫 공연을 하였고, 수년간 뉴질랜드에서 투어공연을 하였으며 2009년 라디오 뉴질랜드에서 라디오용으로 각색되었다. 2013년 서울 화이트 박스 공연장에서 프로베이셔너리 공연 컴퍼니와 레벨 얼라이언스의 합작으로 다시 재공연되었다.
